Protocols for full review consideration by the IRB must be received in the IRB Office at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled committee meeting date (meetings are scheduled for the first Tuesday of the month during the academic year). This 2 week interval is essential for allowing committee members sufficient time to review the protocol documents and seek answers to any outstanding questions prior to IRB Committee decision-making. Researchers should submit eleven (11) copies of protocols submitted for full review.
The Principle Investigator (PI) may submit protocols for exempt/expedited review at any time, during regular business hours with the understanding that the IRB Chair has the authority to change the level of review initially determined by the PI. Please submit four (4) copies of protocols for exempt/expedited review.
Please submit all protocols for review to Cory Clasemann, Human Protections
Administrator, Sease Wing 001C. The timeframe for completing most IRB protocol
reviews (exempt, expedited, and full) is about two weeks (excluding University
of Indianapolis holidays). The IRB Procedures for research protocol review
are described in the Research Protocol Review Procedures
document.
More information on content requirements for IRB review can be found in the Content Requirements for IRB Review of New Studies
document.
